We specialise in dealing with breast implant claims and have helped hundreds of women recover compensation.

We were one of the leading UK firms involved in recovering compensation for the victims of the PIP breast implant scandal. Partner Oliver Thorne helped hundreds of British PIP victims to seek justice, successfully recovering compensation for many of them through the French courts. Oliver was interviewed on BBC TV and LBC radio about his role in the landmark case.

Attention is now turning to the health risks associated with different breast implant products after the BBC featured the case of a woman who developed a rare type of cancer linked to her breast implants.

US pharmaceutical company Allergan Limited has paid a substantial sum to the woman who fell ill with breast-implant associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma. BIA-ALCL, as it is known, is a cancer of the immune system, rather than a type of breast cancer. It can develop in the scar tissue around breast implants. The payment was made by Allergan with no admission of liability.

Regulators have received over 100 reports of BIA-ALCL relating to surgery in the UK, involving six different manufacturers. It is believed that BIA-ALCL could be a reaction to the breast implant’s textured surface, or a bacterial infection.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is currently collecting data on women who are affected by the condition. The MHRA is assuring women with breast implants, but no signs or symptoms of BIA-ALCL, that there is no need to have them removed or checked. However, anyone with unusual signs or symptoms, such as swelling around their breast implant, should see a doctor.
